As was every other campsite in the Lake District seemingly as everyone we called was full. The Croft has a large, ETC 4 star graded, well sheltered caravan and campsite. Food is available in the mornings at a breakfast van though most people bring their own supplies. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a lead. It costs 30 pounds per person per night and all rooms are en suite. . The family running the B&B are very friendly and we enjoyed our stay here immensely. This was far more expensive than camping but it did mean we were warm at night and that we didn’t have to face the prospect of an uncomfortable night in a tent after a long day’s hiking. It’s very close to the Wordsworth museum at Dove Cottage and the town of Grasmere is within easy reach. It’s a small and friendly site with great views and is away from the road so nice and quiet, bar the lambs whose barring might wake you up early doors. Most groups were families or hikers and all we met were very friendly. These idealic surroundings serve as a backdrop to The Croft. Follow the signs from the village.
